Emir, Queen Beatrix discuss bilateral ties

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani met Queen Beatrix of the Kingdom of Netherlands yesterday at the Emiri Diwan. The meeting was attended by HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Emiri Diwan Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, a number of ministers and Qatar’s Ambassador to the Netherlands also attended the meeting The Dutch side was represented by the Heir Apparent to the throne of Netherlands Willem Alexander, the Prince of Orange, and his Spouse Maxima Zorreguieta Cerruti and the members of the official delegation escorting Queen Beatrix . Talks during meeting dealt with bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest. The Emir conferred upon the Dutch Queen the Necklace of Independence and in turn the Emir received the Grand Cross in the order of the Lion of the Netherlands from Her Majesty Queen Beatrix. The Emir hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Dutch Queen and the accompanying delegation. Earlier on arrival, Queen Beatrix was accorded a red-carpet reception. Later the Emir and Queen Beatrix visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA). They jointly inaugurated the Golden Age Exhibition of Dutch paintings and got viewed the works on display. They witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Qatar Museums Authority and the Rayex Museum in the Netherlands. Later the Dutch Queen toured several sections of the museum.
