Qatar is sprucing up efforts to control pollution and monitor the operation of all the retail fuel outlets, Saad Ali al-Kubaisi, the chairman of the petrol station executive committee, said yesterday. The committee, which has six members, is maintaining a list of all the petrol stations in the country and holds regular training for the staff and the supervisors working in thses petrol stations. The committee - whose members are drawn from Woqod, Civil Defence, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, Qatar Standards and Specifications Authority and Qatar Petroleum - also investigates incidents of leakage of petrol at the petrol pumps and takes necessary action to control it. The committee, which was set up in 2007on the directives of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, recently organised a training programme for supervisors.
