Doha has great appreciation for food. We have a range of different restaurants that cater to all types of income. We have the high-end fancy restaurants like Nobu and Hakkasan, and we have local establishments like Tea Time. I honestly think that the small cafeterias, which tend to be overlooked, deserve a lot more credit as they provide quick, delicious, and cheap alternatives to small and expensive portions at big name joints. Here’s a list of some cafeterias and their best items!

They serve sandwiches and little snacks. But they’re known for their chicken popcorn (QR8 for a small, QR15 for medium, QR18 for large), lotus cheesecake, mahalabia, chocolate soufflé, and even cornflakes! Their chicken popcorn is popping! (no pun intended)

Al Banuche Cafeteria

This is a small cafeteria located on Old Airport Road. They’re super popular for their breakfast egg omelette, tomato, and cheese sandwiches, which are actually extremely delicious and sell for QR3 a plate! This is perhaps one of the best steals for a breakfast item. It’s a must try spot, even though it’s a hassle to find parking there but they do carhops!

Man’oushe Street is also a small restaurant/cafe and it’s located in Al Gharafa. Their manakeesh (fatayer) is deliciously wrapped in the softest bread you could imagine. You have mouthwatering options such as Akkawi cheese, meat, labneh, and others.

La Mazani

If you are in the mood for BBQ at a palatable price range, La Mazani is a must try. Their restaurants are located around Doha in places such as Markhiya, next to Immigration roundabout, and near Bank Street. Getting barbecued sikhs of 4 pieces each of chicken, meat, kofta, liver, and even hearts allows for easy options and a delicious experience. For those with families, the spot next to Immigration roundabout will suit you best.
