Food always tastes better when you feel that you’ve nabbed a bargain, right? We bring you the cafes and restaurants around town that offer discounted prices that keep your stomach and wallet happy. Dieters look away now.

Coffee Time

Locations: Bank street, Palm Tower, Regency and Wakra

Happy hours: 4pm - 9pm (Wakra branch 7pm-12am)

Warning: Now that you know about this, eclair-eating might become a daily habit. Everyday can be a pastry party thanks to the delicious bakery goodies supplied by French Olive restaurant. We tucked into a creamy (and very dreamy) pistachio eclair which was just 6QR. Sandwiches are from 12QR and muffins from just 3QR - sorting you for dinner and tomorrow’s breakfast for just 15QR.

Happy hours: 7-11.30PM. Buy one get one free on breads and croissants

This chic restaurant houses its own bakery, which serves up pretty pastries, sandwiches and freshly made bread. Although its a little hard to find (it’s not that visible from the main road), once you do you’ll feel like you’ve stumbled upon a hidden treasure. It’s bright inviting modern interiors will make you want to stay longer. Enjoy two loaves from 14QR.

Gourmet House

Kempinski, West Bay

Happy Hours: 7-10pm

Get here at 7pm and you may have to join the queue. Although this cafe’s happy hours are relatively well-known, you’ll still find that there’s plenty to go round. With speciality breads such as rye and spelt and multi-grain, you can pick up a lovely loaf from just 12QR.

Happy hours: 50% off cakes and pastries after 8pm

After tucking into some tasty Malaysian noodles and Nasi Lemak at Lagenda, the hotels 24-hour international restaurant, we stumbled upon this sign saying half price cakes. We didn’t have the room left to try it out for ourselves, but we will be back. You can pick up a treat for as little as 3QR

This newbie on D-town’s cafe scene is certainly setting standards with it’s great variety of cakes, muffins and pastries – you can enjoy wholemeal croissants and zucchini and walnut muffins. Also included in the offer are grab and go sandwiches, salads and some fresh juices so you can pick up a healthy dinner for less than 20QR.

Stealing a term from a fellow food blogger this cafe offers a great place to get a cake-away plus there’s a great range of breads, and hot food on offer if your after a proper meal. Now that we’ve discovered this place, you’ll know where to find the ILQ tea come 9pm.

The evenings just got better with these awesome discounts on some mouth watering food! It is the perfect chance to feed your imagination and tummy and yet not hurt your wallet. Can life get any better?!
