With music-lovers in Qatar set to welcome Bollywood DJs Aqeel and NYK to the Marriott beach this evening for the ‘Absolut Bollywood’ party, the musical stars have claimed that they are thoroughly looking forward to their performance in Doha. DJ Aqeel, who is one of the biggest names in India, has performed in Qatar twice before, and Gulf Times spoke to the celebrity DJ to ask about tonight’s show. “It feels great to be coming back to Qatar,” said Aqeel, adding “I always have a great time performing in Doha.” “Both previous shows have been really good, with large crowds of people having lots of fun,” he added. Aqeel explained that he plays a mixture of House and Bollywood music, and mentioned his upcoming album release in November as well as his plans to work on creating more international sounding music in the future. He said he was once again looking forward to seeing the Asian community in Doha turn out in force to see his performance, and said he had been “waiting for this”. He also praised the talents of his supporting act tonight, DJ NYK, who he said is a “very good producer.” Young DJ NYK described his pride at getting the opportunity to play with DJ Aqeel saying “this is really special; I have looked up to him since my childhood – this is a privilege and an honour as he is my idol.” NYK, who describes his music as “Progressive,” told guests to expect “a lot of exclusive remixes” to be played at tonight’s event, and said he was looking forward to this gig which he thinks will be “massive.” The ‘king of remixes’ has been performing all over the world recently, and has also been working on a number of soundtracks for major Bollywood films. But he said that the chance to play alongside his hero, DJ Aqeel in Doha is something that fills him with excitement, promising that they will both put on an unforgettable show. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=316336&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
