Many people are into the photography and videography scene here in Doha, so if you're up for trying something different you should definitely look into purchasing or learning more about these super cool devices and their optional add-ons!

The 360-Degree Camera

The 360-degree camera is exactly what its name describes it to be. It captures a 360 degree aspect of a person's surroundings. That in itself is a pretty awesome feature, in my opinion. However, in order for these cameras to work you need to download certain apps or certain software for your computer.

Some cameras also connect directly to your smartphone so you can access them from your phones. So far the best 360-degree cameras on the market right now based on reviews are Ricoh Thetha S, LG 360 CAM and 360Fly. I'm not sure if you can find them all in Doha, but Jarir bookstore does sell the LG 360 CAM. They tend to be quite affordable unless you go for the high end ones. You can check out other electronics stores as well!

GoPros are great cameras that take high quality HD pictures and videos and are waterproof so you can even take them underwater! The best feature of GoPros is that it's small and compact, and not a huge burden to handle, quite unlike DSLR cameras. There are black, white, and silver editions of the GoPro. Silver is generally the best due to the quality of its captures, but if you can get your hands on one, you should!

GoPros are also great at capturing extreme action, so if you go on holiday somewhere and do something like mountain climbing, surfing, skydiving, parasailing, bungee jumping, etc., you can wear a GoPro and capture your experiences first-hand! You can find GoPros pretty much anywhere in Doha, in some sports stores and in electronic sections in stores such as Virgin Megastores and even Lulu supermarkets as well. The prices tend to range from QR700-QR2000, depending on what version you buy.

Drone Cameras

If you haven't seen how drone cameras work, you should really check it out! It's basically like you're using a remote control airplane, but it has a camera attached to it, so you can capture the most amazing photos and videos! If you've ever gone to a beautiful location and wanted an aerial shot of it but couldn't get one, drones are your solution. The best drone cameras on the market right now are DJI Phantom 4, DJI Phantom 3, and the DJI Inspire 1. Phantom 4 and Inspire 1 are on the pricier side, but Phantom 3 is the most affordable of the three. Who wouldn't want a shot like this though:

You can find drone cameras online, however you have to be extremely careful where you shoot with them particularly near restricted and private areas or residencies, or if you fly them too high. Doha itself is currently regulating how drones are used - permits may need to be obtained when it comes to drone purchase and shooting. Drones are great for when you go to exotic locations around the world, just remember to be aware of your surroundings or you could get in trouble!

Waterproof Cameras

Sure, GoPros are waterproof cameras as well, but you can even find specific waterproof cameras that produce amazing quality underwater photos and videos! These are great for people who are into scubadiving or deep-sea diving. It's an amazing other world underwater and is still yet to be fully explored! These cameras capture more depth than a GoPro would, hence they're specific for using underwater. Nikon, Olympus, and Panasonic have really great waterproof cameras! Some of these, like the Nikon COOLPIX AW130, even have Wifi options! Amazing! You can also find these around electronic stores, or sections in stores, in Doha. Be sure to research more thoroughly before purchasing.
