Aqua Park Qatar drew as many as 16,000 visitors during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, including people from other Gulf countries. “Aqua Park is becoming a very hot destination that is helping internal tourism for Qatar,” general manager Mohamed Khoursheed said. About 10% of the visitors were from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Oman. The visitors enjoyed the activities and new rides that opened for the summer season during the first day of Eid. This included the African village, a 240sqm pool with slides in the shape of different animals, and mushroom showers. The pool has also elephant figures spouting water from their trunks and giraffe showers for toddlers. “Space boat” is another new attraction at Aqua Park. It is a slide that drops from a 20m tower into a 150m long fibreglass tunnel. “Safety is a priority at Aqua Park Qatar where each slide and pool is monitored by specialised operators and life guards,” Khoursheed said. A special team monitors the quality of the water. Aqua Park is open seven days a week from 10am to 10pm. Every Saturday is expatriates’ day. Gulf Times
