The Al Noor Institute for the Visually Impaired announced yesterday that it will hold Al Noor Institute Research Conference on June 15 to 16 at the Sharq Village and Spa. “The Al Noor Institute Research Conference will feature scientific research on special education, some competitions and workshops… this will signify our continued partnership with Sharq Village and Spa, which has hosted our events at its property,” said Dr Hayad Khalil, Director of the Al Noor Institute. Khalil said the conference will also include workshops on mobility training, braille workshops, and computer workshops, among others. Hossein Vetry, General Manager of the Sharq Village and Spa, said the hotel has been actively supporting the Al Noor Institute, a local institution catering to children with special needs and related communication disorders, for quite some time now. “Adopting the Al Noor Institute and helping them with hosting their events and activities is our way to give back to the community… At the Ritz-Carlton our ladies and gentlemen also play an important role in our endeavour to reach out. Without employee involvement, our outreach efforts would not be nearly as successful,” said Vetry. According to Amena Tena, Public Relations Coordinator at the Sharq Village and Spa, since the hotel has “adopted” the Al Noor Institute, the hotel hosts the institution’s activities and events there for free. The Al Noor Institute, which was inaugurated in 1998 and works to extend educational services to the blind, to help them overstep their disability and prepare them to undertake a more socially productive role, now has around 314 students, which range from 3 to 21 year olds. The Al Noor Institute will also be participating in Reach Out To Asia’s first Annual Youth Conference on Leadership, Service Learning and Global Citizenship. “Guests will be visiting us during this conference and we will show them the facilities here at Al Noor, what we offer to our students… it will be like an awareness day,” said Khalid. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Sectionpage.asp?section=Local_News
