Al Karaana Lagoon to be turned into environmental tourist resort

A report by The Peninsula has mentioned that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has announced plans to develop Al Karaana Lagoon into an environmental tourist resort.

As per the report, Minister of Environment and Climate Change H.E. Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani has said that the project will be implemented in cooperation with Qatar Tourism. It is aimed at providing a tourist place to visitors including families.

The report said that the Minister was speaking to The Peninsula on the sidelines of an awareness event held yesterday under the endangered sea turtle hawksbill conservation project at Fuwairit Beach, a protected area for turtles. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change will also launch a number of environmental projects before FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️.

He said that the projects will cover all fields including the marine environment, wild animals, birds and plants.

In an event by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, H.E. the Minister also said that good cooperation and fruitful cooperation in the launch of the turtle nesting season in Fuwairit Beach.

"The Ministry has made strenuous efforts to conserve these threatened species, represented in the release of more than 35,000 baby turtles during the past five years. We have also prepared for the start of this season in good conditions by providing a permanent safe nesting area and water tanks to nurse the baby turtles before they are released to the sea.”
