The double-storey parking facility being built at the arrivals terminal of the Doha International Airport (DIA) will be partially open during the Eid Al Adha holidays. The ground floor of the new parking facility will be opened with 210 additional parking spaces, as part of preparations for the forthcoming Eid and Haj season, DIA said yesterday. The opening of the facility will restore the airport’s original parking capacity as existed before construction works for the Metro Project by Qatar Rail began, it added. However, passengers and visitors have been advised to be mindful of the busy traffic during the holidays and arrive early. Abdulaziz Al Mass, Manager of Public Relations and Communications, DIA, said that the DIA was expecting over 1,000,000 passengers to use the airport during this month. “DIA, in cooperation with our partners at MOI, CAA and Mowasalat, has taken a number of measures to ensure a more convenient and hassle-free travel experience,” he said. Eight automatic parking payment machines have been installed around the parking area and inside the arrivals terminal. DIA has advised the public to use these payment options to avoid long queues when exiting the car park. At the immigration clearance at the arrivals terminal, 30 counters will be ready to receive passengers from all destinations. In addition, 10 e-gates are operational for a quick and easy passport control procedure. The departures terminal will be equipped with 32 passport clearance counters, in addition to the already existing e-gates. Qatari Nationals and residents are eligible to activate e-gate services through the widespread “Metrash 2” mobile application, or through the immigration office located at DIA departures terminal, or any other government services complex in Qatar. DIA has also collaborated with Mowasalat to provide an additional fleet of 200 Karwa Taxis specifically for the airport, which are already running. A new taxi shelter has also been set up http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/qatar/256518-airport-double-storey-parking-to-open-partially-during-eid.html
