Azzam Al Mannai, a Qatari nature photographer, shared on his social media channels that a few of his clips of the largest gathering of whale sharks in the State of Qatar (Al-Shaheen Field) has been featured on the second episode of Our Planet II entitled 'Following the Sun'.

Our Planet II is a docuseries by the popular streaming channel Netflix that documents the incredible journey and migration patterns of billions of animals across the globe and is narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

The videos by Azzam featured on the show are aerial clips of the whale sharks gathering and a few seconds of close-up footage of a whale shark's gills.

Azzam shares that the scene of the close-up shot of the whale shark's gills was filmed in August 2022 and that it "was an emotional few seconds of swimming side by side in harmony".
