The ILQ team had the golden privilege to watch Avengers: Infinity War last night three days before everyone else does in a special premiere screening arranged and facilitated by the posh Vox Cinemas at Doha Festival City.
As usual, the queue was crazy but that didn't stop us from reaching the red carpet that served as our gateway to the gigantic Vox Cinemas screen -- which by the way is one of the biggest in all of Qatar. Once finally seated, the team had a mini discussion to how 'gargantuan' and 'ambitious' the film we're about to watch is since it's deemed as Marvel Studio's 10th year anniversary offering.
With around 64+ characters -- according to Marvel -- vying for screen exposure on a fairly lengthy 156-minute running time, the original Avengers including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Hulk will surely have fewer lines compared to the last 2 Avenger films (2012 and 2015) especially now that it's also going to be the first time that they'll meet the Guardians of the Galaxy -- headed by the ever-jubilant Star Lord.
In Infinity War, Marvel's mightiest heroes will converge to battle their most powerful enemy yet -- the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality.
The first trailer for the film racked up more than two hundred million views in just 24 hours, setting a new record for the most trailer views in a single day -- and it's quite easy to know why. Besides Marvel's solid fan base from all four corners of the globe, kids and kids at heart are likewise very much looking forward to what is set to happen onscreen once Thanos goes head-to-head against their favorite Marvel character.
And admit it, with all these characters uniting for an all-in-one treat, wouldn't it be perfect to provide each one of them the grand entrance -- depending on their upbringing -- that they deserve?
This list is not in chronological order but there's a reason why our favorite green-skinned monster is opening the salvo as he is also one of the very first original Avenger member to appear in the film. And as usual, there's not a single clue provided by the equally tricky musical scoring that he's coming on the frame. When the audience least expects it, Bruce Banner arrives banging every single awesomeness that he naturally exudes -- and his fans loved it!
Being the youngest and newest 'Avenger member' as announced by Tony Stark, Spiderman is not just a household name but also every millenial's representative of fighting evil while keeping everything cool in the Marvel universe. When he arrived on frame, a respectable number of teenagers from our back exploded, while shouting Peter Parker's name. Looks like Spidey's fans haven't moved on from the success of last year's Homecoming.
"I know somewhere" was a line from the film which gave every single Marvel fan at Vox Cinemas DFC to scream Black Panther's African nation origin 'Wakanda' like crazy. They knew the Wakandans were coming because apart from the tribal background music which succeeded the one-liner, fans are also still in awe over T'Challa's solo film's recent sweep at the Box Office, earning them five times as much money in the US than any other movie in 2018.
People waited too long for Cap to make his grand entrance in Infinity War, but the moment his chiseled physique was silhouetted, the audience just went crazy as the 'First Avenger' perfectly owned that specific scene. Also, there were hints during the first few minutes of the film that Steve Rogers might finally show his self but director Anthony Russo just won't give him away easily. They were hint after hint after hint until Cap's moment came -- which perfectly worked! The filmmakers know that Cap is one of the most well-loved Avenger and putting him nearly halfway through the film justified the wild anticipation. It was truly worth the wait!
Please don't be disheartened, Thor fans. The image you see above was put there just to make you excited for the total transformation that the King of Asgard is set to undergo later in the film -- this time with his brand-new hammer 'Stormbreaker' after 'Mjolnir' was destroyed in his last starring film Thor: Ragnarok (2017). The best advice we could give is to reserve your loudest shouting voice as Thor's second entrance as a full-pledged Avenger will surely bring a ray of hope to the Avengers team against the destructive Thanos.
A scheduled direct sequel -- which is set for release on May 3, 2019 -- was shot back-to-back with Infinity War meaning there'll be a post-credit scene to watch out for just like every single Marvel film in history.
So make sure to remain seated even after the credits finish rolling!
