As most of you may already know, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is in Qatar for the first time. This may just be THE Broadway experience you have been waiting for!
ILoveQatar had the chance to go to the media preview for an intimate sneak peak to the show on Thursday before the premiere on the same night at 8 pm.
Located in Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC), Qatar has lent its best location for any type of show to the musical we love so much from Disney. As we came in, we were already drawn to the absolutely spectacular stage. Layer over layer of enchanting images are showcased on the stage to reveal the different scenes. Anyone who knows the great theatre of QNCC, will most certainly not remember it to be quite so magical as it is for this experience.
Lights off, and the spot lights and partially see-through stage curtains take you with into the fantastical land where Belle will meet the Beast and his enchanted servants. French villages and forests are the setting, and some scenes are so stunningly Moulin Rouge-esque that you may think you’re in Paris.
Dancing closets, cups, clocks, plates and carpets will be just as endearing as the songs, some guests know very well, are beautifully sung by the cast that looks exactly like the characters from the Disney film.
One of our favorites of the musical must definitely be the orchestra that is hidden behind the stage. Such presence with all its instruments and talented musicians added sound effects and the background music to the lovely and powerful songs from the musical.
If you have the opportunity to go to show yourself, accompanied with friends and family, don’t miss out on this opportunity. What may never be as accessible anywhere else in the world is right here in Doha until Saturday the 19th! We were undoubtedly convinced that this would be the perfect winter experience, so why not spend one of the next days going to an actual Broadway musical?
