The National debating team is participating in the Asian Debate Championship which will be held in Bangkok between July 15 to 19. The team will also take part in the World Championship for School Debates in English, which will also be held in Bangkok from 25-31 of the same month.
Taking part in these tournaments, QatarDebate Center, a member of the Qatar Foundation, seeks to develop the skills of the participants and compete for the title in world championships.
Head of educational program at QatarDebate, Aisha Al Nesf explained that Qatari students are highly capable of understanding, analyzing and discussing topics in a variety of ways, including political, economic, health, environmental and other current issues.
Al Nesf added that the national debates team has elected members after a number of tests and experimental debates, pointing out that a junior team are currently being prepared to ensure a higher level in the coming years.
On the other hand, members of the team voiced readiness to compete for the first positions in the two championships, pointing out that the representing Qatar in international forums is an important incentive to win.
The team explained that they began training since September 2018, praising the efforts of the coaches in developing the team in terms of information, delivery and methods of response in addition to the skills of time control and distribution of tasks.
