Qatar Charity (QC) , in collaboration with the Center for Conflict Studies and Humanitarian Action at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and the Center for the Study of Internal Displacement (IDMC), organised a round table on "The Arab Region and the Humanitarian Challenges of Internal Displacement".
This comes as a culmination of the collaborative efforts between Qatar Charity and the Center for the Study of Internal Displacement, which resulted in the release of the Arabic version of the World Report on Internal Displacement this year.
The workshop held at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies was moderated by the Director of the Center for Conflict Studies and Humanitarian Action, Professor Sultan Barakat and addressed by the Director of IDMC Alexandra Bilak, and Mohammed Al Ghamdi, Assistant Executive Director, Corporate Governance and Institutional Development at Qatar Charity.
The participants highlighted the relationship between the development of policies and the political will, and the practical efforts and measures required to reduce the phenomenon of displacement and its dangers.
They stressed the need to have international political will to eradicate the phenomenon of internal displacement, to benefit from the data and information contained in the report and to communicate its results to decision makers to find sustainable solutions to issues of displaced persons and refugees.
