Ministry education reduces school transportation fees 78

Minister of Education and Higher Education, Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, issued Ministerial Resolution No. (20) of 2023 regarding determining the price of textbooks and transportation fares for non-Qatari students who are not citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries studying in public schools.

Starting from the beginning of the current academic year 2023-2024, the transportation fee will be QR 220 per student for each semester for the use of school transportation. The decision also included exempting the children of imams and muezzins affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs from the price of books and transportation fees.

The decision came after reviewing the relevant laws and after the Council of Ministers approved the draft of this decision at its regular meeting held on 30 August 2023.

As a result, transportation fees have been reduced by 78%, as they previously amounted to QR 1,000 per student per semester. This step reflects the Ministry's keenness to continue supporting students and their families in their educational journey, in line with its vision of providing quality education for all.

While the decision kept the price of textbooks at QR 150 for each student for each semester, children of Qatari women and people with disabilities continue to be exempted from the cost of books and transportation fare.
