The Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar (RGSGQ), one of the top British international schools in Qatar, recently concluded its much-anticipated Book Week celebration. The week-long event was packed with engaging activities and events aimed at nurturing a love for reading amongst the members of the school community.

The highlight of the week was Character Dress-Up Day, where students dressed up as their favorite literary characters. From classic heroes to beloved protagonists, the school was abuzz as children showcased their creativity and imagination through their costumes.

Happening during the same week, students also participated in 'Terminology Tuesday,' where they dressed up as adjectives. The school's very own children's book author and Assistant Head Teacher, Denice Wallace, treated the students to a captivating book reading morning, sharing excerpts from her books "Travel with Deni" and "Wonder with Wallace."

The week-long celebration culminated with an assembly recognizing all the efforts and hard work of every member of the RGSGQ community. Special recognition was given to the winners of the Shoebox Diorama Design Contest, where students were tasked with depicting and designing scenes from their favourite books.

"Reflecting on the success of Book Week," said Mr. Paul Williamson, Principal of Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar, "It is wonderful to celebrate the joy of books as a school community. We are also lucky to have a published author in our midst, and Ms Wallace’s sharings were a special treat for our students. Reading can open our eyes to the wonders of the real and fictitious world. To quote Dr Seuss, ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.
