Acclaimed Qatari writer, author and life coach Hamad Al Tamimi, with his commitment to personal development and positive transformation, has chosen to showcase inspiring role models from various sectors and nationalities via an ongoing project called "Contemporary Characters" in an annual cultural event in Qatar.

Hamad Al Tamimi: I'm Hamad Al Tamimi, and I see myself as a writer at the outset of my journey, propelled by passion and a drive for success in the field of writing, aiming to contribute new and meaningful content to the cultural sphere. Therefore, I constantly strive to explore novel realms and enhance literature with innovative ideas. My most recent endeavour, the documentary project "Contemporary Characters," garnered widespread acclaim and earned praise from key figures in the cultural and media landscape of Qatar.
Prior to this, I made significant contributions to the cultural domain, with a collection of stories and articles published in various local and international newspapers. Through my writing, I aim to inspire and encourage readers to think in new ways, unlocking the doors of imagination and creativity. I firmly believe in the transformative power of words to instigate positive change and always aim to produce work that leaves a lasting, positive impact on the minds and hearts of my audience.
Hamad Al Tamimi: "Contemporary Characters" is an ongoing project featuring a significant annual cultural event and the release of numerous documentary publications. The event boasts a diverse program, including discussions, performances, and meetings honouring influential cultural figures. The publications cover various sections, ranging from comprehensive accounts of influential individuals to specific hardships and institutional histories. Notably, the project transcends geographical borders, documenting achievements and successes across the Gulf and Arab regions, with ongoing efforts to expand coverage to include more personalities from various countries.
Hamad Al Tamimi: After the success of the initial edition titled "The Journey of Brilliant Women in the Modern Era 1", the decision to write "Contemporary Characters" was motivated by the desire to expand the project's scope. This upcoming series includes not only the second edition featuring the careers of brilliant women in the modern era but also the first edition highlighting the careers of outstanding men.
Additionally, English versions of these editions will be available. These publications transcend mere autobiographical accounts; they represent the culmination of rich experiences and the fruits of relentless struggle and effort. The underlying message of these books serves as a guiding beacon for those aspiring to excellence, capturing exceptional stories that narrate personal growth and maturity while underscoring the invaluable contributions made by individuals to the State of Qatar. Moreover, they reveal the secrets and behind-the-scenes efforts that have shaped and propelled the country's development towards significant achievements.
By showcasing these figures' exceptional accomplishments and pioneering initiatives, "Contemporary Characters" offers a unique perspective that enriches Qatari culture and society. In documenting this pivotal historical phase, the series aims to immortalize not only the writers' narratives but also the experiences of those who have contributed to shaping the nation's history through their achievements and sacrifices.
Hamad Al Tamimi: I prefer not to disclose the identities of the individuals whose journeys we've documented, as they will be revealed during the ceremony on 15 May 2024. However, I can reveal that we've documented over 120 individuals, encompassing both men and women, all of whom have left an indelible mark on Qatar's history. They have made significant contributions across various fields, including diplomacy, politics, sports, economics, media, arts, and community initiatives. Additionally, we've chosen to highlight the endeavours of several young individuals who have embarked on inspiring journeys early in life. We believe this project will stand as a testament to their beginnings and future paths.
Hamad Al Tamimi: I believe showcasing inspiring personalities embodies a noble message and a responsibility for writers to safeguard the nation’s achievements. The documentation process is a source of inspiration for readers, motivating them to pursue their goals and surmount obstacles. It also plays a crucial role in promoting positive values and principles by presenting exemplary individuals whose actions reflect these values.
Moreover, shedding light on the journeys of specific figures, particularly influential ones, is instrumental in documenting local history and culture. It unveils the trajectory of cultural transformations and the pace of development in Qatar.

My advice to young individuals is born from personal application before sharing it with others. I encourage everyone to extract lessons from the journeys of these inspiring individuals.

By delving into their personal and professional lives, readers can gain insights that pave the way for their own growth and development. I urge readers to immerse themselves in the details, allowing for a deeper understanding of the challenges faced, decisions made, and paths chosen. Lastly, I advise readers, particularly aspiring individuals, to identify an inspiring figure within the book with whom they share talents, ambitions, thoughts, or circumstances. Hamad Al Tamimi: At first, I believed that evaluating the literary scene was solely the domain of critics, who would assess literary works based on scientific standards. However, the literary landscape in Qatar and the Gulf region has experienced remarkable growth in recent years. This flow can be attributed to the expanding cultural interest and the diversification of the reading audience, motivating authors to produce more literary works.
Furthermore, there's a heightened awareness of culture's significance in societal development, coupled with government support through initiatives like literary festivals, awards, and cultural spaces for writers and intellectuals. These efforts have infused the literary scene with diversity and vitality, promising continued growth and innovation in the future.
Hamad Al Tamimi: I emphasize that purposeful writing is both a noble message and a significant responsibility, serving as a duty towards our nation. Before seeking fame, we must recognize that every word we write holds the power to shape our society. The written word is akin to a double-edged sword, capable of both constructive and destructive impacts. Hence, we must carefully review our words before sharing them with the world.
