Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development, is inviting prospective students to its Graduate Open House on Monday, February 8^th at 6:00 PM at the HBKU Student Center.

Attendees at the Open House will not only have the chance to hear about the university’s diverse multidisciplinary programs, but will be offered the unique opportunity to enjoy sample lectures given by HBKU professors. The lectures will match the broad range of subjects currently offered at graduate level by HBKU.

The sample lectures being given at the event will offer a valuable insight into student life at the university and will cover such diverse topics as food safety and outbreak investigation, how basic science can be used to combat the spread of disease, design and innovation’s role in sustainability, the role of translation in the modern world, constitutional law, and how computing changed our lives.

The Graduate Open House will also offer attendees the chance to be among the first to hear about four of HBKU’s newest planned programs under its College of Science and Engineering: a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science and Engineering, and Master of Science (M.S.) degrees in Bioengineering, Cybersecurity, and Data Science and Engineering.

Attendees at the event on February 8^th will have the opportunity to preview the four innovative new programs ahead of their official launch. The new programs have been designed to respond to ongoing advances in science and technology and reflect local needs and global trends. Students enrolling in the programs will be given the opportunity to work on crucial issues in their fields through either a research thesis or by working on an industrial project.

The planned programs will join HBKU’s existing extensive portfolio of graduate programs, spanning from Sustainable Energy, Biological and Biomedical Science, Law, and Public Health, to Audiovisual Translation, Public Policy in Islam, Islamic Finance, and Urban Design and Architecture in Islamic Societies. The breadth of subjects students can pursue at the university is targeted to match the educational, social and economic goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

With HBKU’s main 2016 admissions deadline fast approaching, members of HBKU’s admissions team will be on hand at the event to offer advice and guidance to those interested in joining the university’s expanding student population.
