Do you recycle? Are you amazed by the amount of plastic packaging you accumulate over a short period of time? It seems unavoidable. Yet recycling has come under fire recently as the amount of recyclables outstrips the ability to use them. This is especially true of plastic.

The real solution is to avoid using all of that plastic. While some of that is the responsibility of manufacturers in how they choose to package their products, we as consumers can influence that by choosing to purchase items with the least packaging, or none, if possible. Manufacturers only succeed if we are buying their products. Let’s use that power to encourage changes to their business practices.

At this time we are doing everything we can to avoid contact with the coronavirus, and so may be reluctant to take reusable bags to the store. That’s totally rational and understandable. Use this opportunity to launder your reusable bags so they’re clean and ready for when the crisis passes.
