Sasol participates in ‘Al-Fikra National Business Competition’

In line with Sasol’s commitment to encourage innovation, contribute to the development of the SME sector in Qatar, and support Qatar’s goal of economic diversification, Sasol sponsored the seventh edition of the Al-Fikra 2019 National Business Competition, an initiative led by QDB as part of its commitment to supporting and developing SME’s in Qatar.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Ali Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari awarded eight winners of Al Fikra 2019 edition on Tuesday 18 June. Al Fikra is an educational initiative aimed at nurturing and developing the talents of young entrepreneurs in Qatar through workshops that transform entrepreneurial business ideas into successful projects. Al Fikra offers these entrepreneurs with the necessary support to contribute to Qatar’s economic diversification and sustainable development in an innovative way.

Evert Kleynhans, Acting President of GTL Ventures, Sasol, added, “At Sasol, we have long-recognized the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises, and have strived to use our technology and industry footprints as a platform to support entrepreneurship. Al Fikra National Business Competition nominees have shown exceptional ability, ingenuity, resilience, and spirit throughout the competition, and we are proud to be part of their journey to success.”

Jack Saba, Sasol’s General Manager of Public Affairs and member of the judging panel of the Al Fikra competition, commented: “We are proud to be the strategic sponsor for such an important program for Qatar for the 6th consecutive year. Al Fikra plays a vital role in supporting the local entrepreneurs in Qatar in their mission to develop their business ideas, and this is aligned with Sasol’s mission to benefit every environment it operates in. We are proud to support Al Fikra and its contribution to Qatar National Vision 2030.”

Under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) umbrella, Sasol has supported Al Fikra National Business Competition during its journey over the past six years, demonstrating their commitment to Al Fikra’s innovative platform, culture of creativity, and foothold in diversifying the local market.

Sasol’s other CSR initiatives include Qatar e-Nature, Definitely Able and Accessible Qatar. These initiatives play a vital role in driving positive impact in the society in raising environmental awareness among younger generations and supporting accessibility and inclusivity for disabled communities.
