Design and build contractor ALYSJ JV has enlisted KEO’s expertise in the Doha Metro Gold Line project.

Included in the scope of work are infrastructural elements that comprise utilities diversions design for 12 underground metro stations, approvals from authorities and stakeholders, and structural design of some associated structures.

The environmental commission included environmental studies, comprising modeling, the project’s impact on groundwater movement and path, on noise and vibration environment and air quality and the environmental risk assessment for design activities.

In addition, KEO is involved in the development of environmental surveys and plans related with terrestrial ecology, landscaping and ecological compensation.

As the stations are located in heavily built up areas and built across major roads carrying major critical utilities corridors, the utilities diversions design is particularly challenging.

For consideration was the complex constructability of the stations, temporary traffic management, stakeholders’ design coordination and in addition, utilities authorities’ stringent requirements.

KEO has been successfully delivering the design and authorities approvals in a challenging time scale, despite addressing parallel design development inputs and site constraints from ALYSJ JV.

In addition, KEO was awarded extra scope in light of its ongoing successful delivery.

The environmental commission for ALYSJ JV is recently underway and in addition to the environmental studies, KEO’s Sustainability team is supporting a Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) submission for the environmental credits for the Gold Line Metro project.

The consultancy’s Infrastructure division is the first in the Middle East and the 2nd in the world to have been presented the ISO 9001, 2016 Certification, under the new Quality Standard as at September 2015.

The highly respected certification was presented by the regional managing director, BSI (British Standards Institute) Middle East & Africa to Glenn Platt, managing director and team. (Source)
