Qatar foundation new sculpture

H.E. Sheikh Hassan Bin Mohammed Bin Ali Al Thani, Advisor for Cultural Affairs at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, designed an artwork entitled 'Azm', which translates to 'determination', on the occasion of the 25th-anniversary celebration since the establishment of Qatar Foundation.

The artwork consists of three sculptural pieces of three women wearing an abaya and the batoola (traditional face cover). It is intended to reflect the traditional clothing of women in Qatar.

H.E. Sheikh Hassan bin Mohammed Al Thani said: The artwork symbolizes the homeland, and it was named by this name to express the connotations of the artistic content of the work, explaining that the sculpture was executed from granite located in Aswan in southern Egypt, from which the pharaohs made their works and sculptures.

His Excellency stressed that he was keen to exaggerate the design of the sculpture to reflect the strength and determination of Qatar through all challenges.

The designer of the artwork concluded by saying that Qatar Foundation chose this work as it resonated with the institution's main goals being education and community development, and also with their logo, which consists of three branches of the Sidra tree.

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization.
