Taking place at Katara's beach, the 8th Traditional Dhow Festival offers a distinctive ambience that showcase the authentic maritime traditions inspired by Qatar's past ancestors. Here's what mind-blowing activities you can experience at the Katara Tradition Dhow Festival 2018!
More than 70 traditional dhows and vessels of different types and sizes have anchored at the Katara beach for the five-day Festival. One of the dhows anchored at the beach is offering free cruise for children.
A spectacular fireworks show themed on maritime traditions will illuminate the Katara skyline tonight as a major highlight of the eighth Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, which opened on Tuesday. Visitors at Katara can enjoy the fireworks show from 8pm to 8.20pm tonight and the same time tomorrow. A member of the organising committee said that: "It is not a normal fireworks show. It is woven around a theme that tells the story of fishing, diving and fighting in the sea."
To preserve identity and heritage, a series of events and activities are going on at the Dhow Festival.
An exhibition dedicated for famous Qatari artist Yusuf Al Sada has also been set up on the sidelines of the Festival. The exhibition features around 200 photographs of Al Sada, along with artworks and crafts related to sea traditions.
A traditional market with marine products, stalls of participating countries showcasing cuisine and sea traditions, traditional maritime competitions and shows, art contest and a cultural cafe.
Sit back, relax your feet and set your cares free on a lovely cruise. Take advantage of the spectacular view and amazing weather for a 30 minute mid-day cruise between Katara Cultural Village and to The Pearl and vice versa through the waters of Arabian Gulf.
