An establishment under the umbrella of Qatar Museums, M7 is a hub for budding designers and creators in fashion and tech. Founded under the leadership of Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa, their mission is to spark excitement and elevate creative ideas through world-class fashion, design, and tech exhibitions.
The ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team has created a guide to take you through the interesting spaces and things you can find inside M7.
M7 is more than just an architectural marvel. The building stands elegantly in the heart of the Msheireb Downtown and is surrounded by popular cafes and restaurants in the locality.
As you enter this magnum opus, you witness a large staircase that is artistically transformed into a majlis seating area with the words 'Curiosity Starts here' printed on it.
Once you have crossed the grand staircase, it's hard to miss the eight-meter-high sculpture of a single long-stemmed rose in cast aluminium and galvanized steel.
German artist, Isa Genzken is best known for creating rose sculptures since her nineties. The Rose III is an actual rose picked by the artist which was scanned in 3D and reproduced on a monumental scale.
One of M7's missions is to provide designers with the tools and equipment to create products with impact and increase business know-how.
Apart from hosting exhibitions and special events, M7 also offers studio spaces for designers and creators to turn their imagination into reality and introduce their labour of love to the world.
A practical space for designers where they produce samples, cut patterns and start a collection; The Cutting Studio was founded by Ghada Al Subae, a visionary who has over a decade of experience in running fashion businesses.
Upcoming designers can book workstations and attend paid workshops or consultations to enhance their knowledge and thrive in this space.
