Check out other central markets in Qatar:
The fish market in Umm Salal Central Market is one of the most popular among consumers and features modern facilities that keep the area temperature-controlled and clean.
You'll even find aquatic-themed designs on the walls that add a fun backdrop to your shopping experience!
The fresh seafood offered here comprises a vast selection of various fish species, crabs, shrimp, lobsters, clams, and more at great prices.
Once you've purchased your fish, you can head to the fish cleaning & cutting area to avail of their services for a small fee depending on the number and type of fish and weight. Queue up on the right side of the counter, where the staff will weigh your fish, receive payment, and give you a queue number.
There is a screen that conveniently indicates the order status of customers. If your number is in the red column, your order is being prepared. Once your number is in the green column, your order is ready for pickup.
There are ample seating areas while you wait, too! There are also separate washrooms for men and women located in this section.
The Al Mazrooah Yard, located just across the Fish Market, is where you'll find fresh vegetables from local farms in Qatar.
The Al Mazrooah Yard is an open-air market with rows and rows of stalls, benches, and large fans for the warmer days.
There is also a small stall for refreshments and snacks to fuel you up on your market day! Here, you'll find brews, water, juices, samosas, pastries, and more.
There are stables in Umm Salal Central Market where vendors sell livestock lambs. Customers can haggle and pick out their lamb and have it sent to the nearby slaughterhouse for its meat.
There's also a dedicated building for the bird & poultry market, where you can browse through shops offering live chickens, ducks, pigeons, and more. Some of these shops can perform the cleaning and cutting, or you may have it sent to the slaughterhouse for the meat.
If you're looking for ready cuts of meat, head to the meat market, where a few stalls offer fresh meat ranging from mutton, beef, goat, and more.
If you're looking for fruits, cross the street on the other side of Al Mazrooah Yard, and you'll find a few shops selling fruits.
Famished from your market day? The Sea Coral Restaurant, in the Umm Salal Central Market Administration building, is open 24 hours a day and serves seafood dishes!
Umm Salal Central Market is mostly cash transactions only.
If you forget to bring cash, a QNB mobile ATM is conveniently parked at the parking area in front of the fish market.
Within the Umm Salal Central Market is a masjid where worshipers can gather and perform prayers.
