Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF), in collaboration with the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), will host a fourth consecutive annual ‘Pink Walk’ breast cancer awareness event at Aspire Park on October 25th. The event will be sponsored by Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Co. Nissan Qatar.

Forming part of AZF’s CSR activities, the breast cancer awareness event aims to encourage participants to embrace healthier lifestyles and become familiar with both the causes of breast cancer and effective identification methods. It will include breast cancer awareness sessions presented by HMC medical teams, followed by a 1 to 2 kilometer walk around Aspire Park.

Launched to mark this year’s ‘Pinktober’, civil society organisations across the globe will hold activities to promote breast cancer awareness among women and the wider community and raise funds for breast cancer medical research.

Al Anoud Almesnad, Head of Events at AZF, said: “As a sports organisation, we encourage women of all ages in Qatar to increase physical activity in its simplest form: walking. Physical activity has myriad health benefits and can help to prevent diseases, so we engage women in Qatar to raise awareness of this serious disease, which causes millions of fatalities across the world. Raising awareness is a crucial first step in fighting breast cancer, as early detection can increase the success rate of treatment. We encourage women to visit their local HMC or PHCC centre to conduct regular check-ups,”

During the 2017 edition of the event, more than 800 men and women of all ages participated in various activities. The event witnessed the largest ever ‘human ribbon’ in Qatar, made up of more than 400 volunteers of all ages standing in formation.

Female residents of Qatar of all ages are encouraged to participate in the event on Thursday, October 25th, at Aspire Park, near Burgery restaurant. It will start at 4pm and a raffle draw, in which a range of valuable prizes will be distributed to the first 200 entries, will be conducted at 5pm.
