The season-opening Sheikh Jassim Cup kicks off on Saturday.
The tournament will feature 16 teams - 12 from Premier and 4 from Second Division.
They have been divided into four groups with the top sides from each group making it to the semi-final.
The group matches will be staged at five venues: Qatar Sports Club, Al Ahli, Al Arabi, Al Wakra and Al Khor, while the final will be played at the Doha Stadium on September 4.
Having signed many new players, the teams generally consider the tournament as a preparatory event before the start of the Qatar Stars League.
The new player to watch this season will certainly be Juninho (Al Gharafa), who has scored over 100 goals for French side Lyon and has been selected 40 times to play for the Brazil national team.
Don't miss the final of the cup, traditionally played in Doha Stadium - the cutest stadium of Doha - which usually gets filled for this game which has provided much excitement over the years. You have probably never noticed the Doha Stadium - located right downtown Doha, near the Corniche - on Museum Street (accessible from Museum roundabout on the Corniche).
