Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), in partnership with a number of local cultural and art institutions, is organising a programme of festivities from October 26 to November 1 to mark Eid al-Adha.
The celebrations will take place at locations, including Katara, the Pearl-Qatar, the Museum of Islamic Art Park, Aquapark, Aspire, and Souq Waqif. Games, contests, traditional Qatari feasts, art performances, fireworks, heritage exhibitions, concerts will form part of the activities.
Abdullah Mallala al-Bader, director of tourism at QTA, described the programme as “the largest-ever” Eid celebrations.
“This festival follows the great success we had with Eid al-Fitr activities that attracted a large number of visitors from around the region,” he said.
QTA will greet visitors coming into Doha with a “special” welcome. On the Abu Samra border between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, QTA will receive visitors with flowers and refreshments and distribute the Eid programme and Qatar’s tourism map. An information booth has been set up at the airport to distribute the Eid programme and tourism guides to arriving passengers.
“For this Eid, we are partnering with numerous cultural and arts institutions, to ensure that we reach the widest possible audience. This initiative is in line with QTA’s strategy to stimulate the local tourism industry and attract visitors to discover and experience Qatar at its very best,” al-Bader said.
The Eid activities’ list of partners includes the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, Katara the Cultural Village, The Pearl-Qatar, Souq Waqif, Qatar Museums Authority, Aquapark, Aspire, Fun Land, Dream Park, Sawt al-Rayan and q.media.
Participating malls and commercial centres are The Mall, The Gate, Lagoona Mall, Royal Plaza, Landmark Mall, Hyatt Plaza and Al Khor Mall.
