As part of the Qatar National Day (QND) celebrations, United Development Company (UDC), master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, has lined up several events to mark the occasion. The island-wide celebrations will cover The Pearl-Qatar’s main retail areas of Porto Arabia, Medina Centrale and Qanat Quartier which will host various traditional and recreational activities from 15 till 18 December 2016, from 6:00 pm till 11:00 pm.

During the four-day event, these venues will be adorned with Arabic-style tents serving traditional coffee to visitors while children enjoy dedicated spaces to play and color their faces with National Day inspired designs. Mascots portraying traditional cartoon characters will be roaming the location giving kids and families the opportunity to take photos with them or even with the falcons on display. In the meantime, adults can enjoy henna drawing or check out the Qatari food tents and karak tea kiosks.

Traditional performances will take center stage as well-trained children from Qatar Leadership Academy partake in military parades not to forget the performance of the widely popular Arda dance which always succeeds to evoke feelings of patriotism.

Visitors will also be treated to National Day branded balloons and giveaways, and to commemorate their visit and share it with the world, Instagram cutout structures have been installed in the three celebratory venues in addition to The Pearl roundabout at the Island’s entrance. Two water screens will also be broadcasting cheerful QND videos on Porto Arabia’s marina in 31 La Croisette and Qanat Quartier canal 6A.

Leading up to the long National Day weekend, several roads, trees, lampposts and concrete structures including the Island’s tallest Pearl Towers will be decorated and lit up in white and burgundy colored lights to set the mood for residents and visitors throughout this proud occasion.

The events will culminate at Marsa Arabia with a 15-minute fireworks show on the night of December 18, visible from around Porto Arabia’s Boardwalk.
