La Veranda, at Sheraton Grand Doha in the heart of Doha, is a favourite spot for couples and families to experience delicious culinary selections - Italian home cooking that offers a wide selection of dishes including perfect pasta dishes and pizzas on their unique outdoor terrace.
Visiting with two colleagues on a Friday morning, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and shown to a fabulous table situated in their stunning restaurant.
I didn’t know what to admire first – the fabulous array of tasty dishes, the cosy décor, or the unforgettable sea view. But I do know that as soon as we entered the restaurant, we were made to feel welcome and relaxed into what came to be a truly pleasant morning/brunch dining experience.
They have a glorious and diverse range of salad items to choose from, including chicken, bresaola melon, red beans and grilled vegetables.
The salad corner also includes lots of different kinds of seafood, including shrimp, squid, scallops, crab, langoustine and smoked salmon - all of which were fresh, delicious and perfectly seasoned.
The shrimp and squid salad was particularly exquisite, and the baby octopus with tomato, capers and basil presented us with an authentic taste of the sea. There was also a tremendous range of perfect salad dressings to accompany and enhance our seafaring feast!
There were some mouth-watering main courses too. The calf veal rack was one of the most delicious dishes I have ever tasted - succulent, tender and cooked to perfection. Combined with baked vegetables and a mushroom sauce, it was my stand out favourite dish.
There was also, to name but a few, blissfully tender beef cheek, a perfect pocket salmon fillet with spinach and mozzarella cheese, some creatively crafted chicken skewers, roast turkey, lamb rack, vegetable lasagna and so much more.
Chef Emanuele – the charming person was always attentive to guests and willing to exchange kind words, information and tips. And it was also heartening to see Chef Emanuele got involved in serving, interacting with us and offering tasty morsels like freshly baked signature pizza topped with cherry tomatoes and green rocket leaves.
I ask Chef Emanuele that how they keep their menu contemporary and ever-changing. He replies with a pleasant smile:
“As most of the guests are regular, we prefer to offer something new in the menu on a regular basis. With this in mind, the brunch menu is changed every week. And when selecting dishes we also try to embrace a seasonal menu that also caters to the diverse preferences of our guests.”
He continues: “We take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients and source our different meats locally. Which is why they are fresh, tender and have terrifically good texture.”
The restaurant has a kid’s section as well to make your little ones as happy as can be! Doughnuts, popcorn, cupcakes, steam vegetables, mini burgers, nuggets and fish fingers – there are a number of delicious dishes on the table
I really wasn't hungry any more, but after my colleague suggested that the desserts are too delicious, I couldn’t leave without trying some of them. A selection of fruits, marshmallows with a chocolate fountain, different mousses and cupcakes including red velvet, tiramisu, gelato, mango and chocolate pudding are all there to entice and please your sweet palate!
Whether you are a fan of tiramisu or not, the in house showcased example will make you instantly fall in love.
It is a sure way to tempt your taste buds with this smooth, cool cream and coffee-soaked dessert. And still, somehow, I managed to find room to enjoy delicious crème caramel, blueberry and white chocolate mousse with fresh fruits.
Finally, one of the greatest attractions of this restaurant is the outdoor space. The climate and eye-catching scenery alone are amazing, but the entertainment options also include excellent live music from bands.
With their tunes assailing my senses, and the alluring sunlight reflecting upon the glassy ocean waves in front of me, I engaged with the natural world whilst waiting for freshly cooked dishes from the live cooking station.
The outdoor cooking station also offers fresh juices to accompany grilled meats, pasta along with a selection of sauces and vegetables.
In short, La Veranda at Sheraton Grand Doha, offers taste sensations framed by a stunning ocean backdrop that is hard to beat. It is, without a doubt, the place to be for brunch and beyond!
