We couldn’t quite decide which cuisine we wanted to eat. We just couldn’t decide whether we wanted Asian, Mediterranean, Indian, Continental, Middle Eastern, Mexican, American, barbecue (BBQ) or something else. We checked around and found Sridan at the Shangri-La Doha. It sounded good, so we decided to check it out. On calling them, to find out more, we discovered, that we were in for a treat. Not only did the restaurant serve Asian, Mediterranean, Indian, Italian, Middle Eastern, cuisine and BBQ, they said they had a great dessert station at their Saturday night BBQ night, too.

Problem solved!

And, we landed at Sridan! Believe me, we were not disappointed. As we entered, we marvelled at the décor and interior of this lovely restaurant that was reminiscent of a traditional Arabian souq (market), which also makes it a great place to entertain visitors to Qatar, whether on business or leisure trips. There were also nicely detailed decorative touches throughout the restaurant that added that special personalised touch that are part of all Shangri-La hotels around the world.

The comfortable seating area, the classy lighting that was neither too bright nor too dim, and the Arabian decor gave the restaurant the feel of sophisticated casualness. It was perfect.

After we were seated, we looked around so we could choose our fayre and dig in. There were at least 10 food and cooking stations to engage guests with creative presentations, and live-theatre cooking and preparation.

No matter what kind of cuisine you were looking for, there was something for all kinds of taste buds. Whether you are the Asian food enthusiast, the meat lover, a diehard Italian cuisine fan, a fanatic of Middle Eastern cuisine, a devotee of vegetarian food or a dessert junkie, you will not be disappointed. There is so much to choose from that you’ll be totally spoiled for choice.

All the food stations were very well executed and beckoning us! So, we checked them all out.

The BBQ grill station was an absolute treat, and quickly became a favourite. After selecting from a vast array of meat and chicken cuts, or fresh seafood, the chef grilled them on the barbecue grill just the way you liked it. From rare to well done, he grilled everything to perfection and just the way we liked it! So, succulent and juicy!

We stopped at the Italian cooking station and tried their made-to-order pasta with different sauces, vegetables and meats. So flavourful and rich.

Though the sushi station is not very big, every piece of sushi they did have was fresh and bursting with flavours. So textured and mouthwatering.

The Asian cooking station was a treat. You can either choose from the foods kept nice and hot or try one of their soups: laksa or chicken noodle soup; just ask the chef to add your choice of broth to different protein choices, vegetables and noodles. Absolutely amazing; so aromatic and tasty.

The Indian cooking station had all the favourites. From crisp poppadoms to grilled tandoori chicken and fish, cooked-to-perfection biryani and the ever-so-famous butter chicken; you’ll feel like you’re in Indian food heaven. So delicious and appetising.

Salads and breads were fresh, and the variety was exquisite.

We finished off the evening with the delectable array of colourful desserts and sweet treats. Each dessert we tried was delightful and we felt fully satiated and satisfied. So gratifying and scrumptious.

The whole experience at Sridan was amazing. It was just too good to be true. The staff was very attentive to all our needs no matter how trivial or big, and ensured we had that perfect dining experience that we were after. They were full of smiles and very courteous. They really looked after us, so well, we didn’t want to leave.
