If you love learning and participating in different cultures' celebrations, you must look forward to Onam! It is a 10-day harvest festival celebrated by the people of the southern state of Kerala, India.

This year, Onam starts on 20 August and ends on 31 August. The feast eaten during the festival is called Onam Sadhya. It is one of the integral parts of the festival that brings together families and friends.

The meal is elaborate, consisting of many dishes, counting to over 25! These include theeyal (mixed vegetable curry), puli inji (tamarind & ginger chutney), erissery (mashed beans and pumpkin in a coconut gravy), avial (vegetables cooked in a coconut gravy base), sambar (lentil soup with assorted vegetables), raw banana chips and many more yummy dishes and desserts like payasam.
