Hakkasan-Chinese-Year-2019

Award-winning restaurant, Hakkasan Doha, will celebrate Chinese New Year with an exclusive menu, where each ingredient represents a symbolism of Chinese New Year used as part of the celebratory dishes associated with the festival, all deeply rooted in Chinese culture.

Much of the symbolism inherent in Chinese cuisine stems from the homophones associated with each food. While all languages have homophones, they are especially prevalent in Chinese, and they play an important role in the culture of the country.

This is wholly evident in the food eaten around Chinese New Year, when certain dishes are enjoyed not only for their taste but for the symbolism associated with them: each dish represents a particular wish or hope for the coming year.

Chinese New Year is a festival that is considered one of China's most important calendar dates, that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar. Hakkasan Doha will be celebrating this auspicious occasion with a specially curated Chinese New Year menu available from 28th of January 2019 until 24th of February 2019.

Hakkasan Doha’s Chinese New Year menu includes traditional Chinese dishes enjoyed in China during this festive time. Consisting of three courses, the menu is priced at QAR 438 per person including a welcome drink for a minimum of two guests.

Hakkasan is also paying homage to the wishing tree tradition inspired by the Lam Tsuen tree in Hong Kong. Guests are invited to write their wishes for 2019 on the red ribbons and hang them on the wooden latticework in the restaurant for good luck.

Highlights of the menu include Peking duck with crispy bean curd and mango, Dim sum duo, Wok-fry lobster with Chinese chive, Stir-fry lamb tenderloin with shitake and Roasted jasmine chicken with sticky rice. For dessert, guests can indulge in the Wealth Pot and Fortune macarons.

Situated in the luxurious grounds of The St. Regis Doha hotel, Hakkasan offers exclusive dining areas, with indoor seating and an outdoor terrace as well as a private dining room and secluded bar, and the Ling Ling lounge, ideally suited for celebrating Chinese New Year.

Says Paul Doubt, General Manager of Hakkasan Doha: “We look forward to welcoming guests to Hakkasan Doha to celebrate this grand occasion of Chinese New Year where we have carefully prepared our menu ensuring guests have an authentic experience.”
