Mall-4

Mall of Qatar is back. And, though it’s not running at full capacity yet, like it did before the coronavirus hit Qatar and stores closed down to prevent its spread in March 2020, it’s open and welcoming visitors who’ve missed their visits to their favourite mall in Qatar. Over 100 of its stores in different categories including: fashion, perfume, cosmetics, watches, accessories, electronics and others, have already opened in the first phase which started on 15 June 2020 (at the moment, restaurants, cafes, and food & beverages outlets are open for takeaway and delivery only).

The Mall’s management assures visitors that it has taken all the necessary preventive and precautionary measures based on Health and Safety Laws and the relevant instructions from the Government, designed to maintain social distance between visitors and the staff just so you can come and shop in peace and without having to worry!

In fact, with its slogan “Welcome Back, We Missed You”, Mall of Qatar has already started an awareness campaign on its social media platforms to educate visitors on how they can shop safely. Instructions are installed at the entrances and throughout the Mall to remind the public about the social distances that must be observed and that they must sanitise their hands regularly.

Mall of Qatar cleans and sanitises its premises regularly

The Mall has done comprehensive meticulous cleaning and sanitisation to the exterior and interior areas of its premises and continues to conduct regular deep cleaning and sanitising for the whole Mall at regular intervals to maintain stringent hygiene at all times.

Only 30% capacity allowed in Mall of Qatar and its stores

Re-opened stores have taken the necessary measures to ensure the number of visitors does not exceed the 30% capacity limit and continue to monitor the number of visitors inside their stores at all times.

Other safety measures taken by Mall of Qatar to protect its visitors

Since the safety of its staff, tenants, and shoppers are of utmost importance for the Mall of Qatar, in addition to the appropriate measures, extra procedures have been implemented to ensure a smooth and comfortable return to its premises.

Emile Sarkis, General Manager, Mall of Qatar, said:

“We are pleased to resume operations and happy to welcome visitors again to our Mall to offer them a safe and convenient shopping experience. Mall of Qatar is taking all the necessary precautions that guarantee the safety and health of our staff and shoppers alike. We have implemented measures, including sanitisation, and encouraging customers to use the touchless smart payment method, which will ensure the safest possible shopping and lifestyle experience to all.
“In collaboration with our tenants, we always endeavour to provide the best solutions that cater to our customers’ needs. Together with the tenants, we are keen to offer our customers a healthy and safe place to shop and have a peaceful journey while shopping”.

Steps to be taken by Mall of Qatar staff and visitors to ensure they stay safe

The following are the precautionary measures that all Mall of Qatar staff and personnel, and visitors must adhere to when they come to the mall:

1. Show the Ehteraz App

All visitors entering the Mall must show the green healthy status on the Ehteraz app on their mobiles.

2. Get your temperature checked

Thermal cameras have been installed at the entrances to secure that all visitors have their temperature checked when they enter the Mall to ensure they are in good health and don’t show any coronavirus symptoms.

3. Wear masks at all time

It’s mandatory that all visitors wear a mask at all times while they are in the mall.

4. Keep your hands sanitised

Throughout the mall’s corridors and hallways, hand sanitation stations have been installed, so visitors can keep their hands sanitised as much as possible.

5. Maintain social distancing

It’s important to maintain a distance of, at least, six feet from other visitors.

6. Keep just 30% capacity in the stores

If the store seems busy, wait outside till you are allowed in.

What’s next for the Mall of Qatar?

Phase-wise gradual lifting of restrictions due to the coronavirus outbreak in Qatar has started with the first phase starting on 15 June and mentioned above. The second phase will begin on 1 July, the third from 1 August, and if all goes well, in Phase 4, that starts from 1 September, the mall will be open to its full capacity.
