DESIGN & SUSTAINABILITY

Located in the northern city of Al Khor, the 60,000-seat Al Bayt Stadium – which means ‘the home’ in English - is designed after the tents historically used by nomadic peoples in Qatar and the Gulf region. Like the bayt al sha'ar tents, the arena has black stripes and vibrant sadu patterns on its façade.

With a Class A* rating from GSAS, Al Bayt Stadium's lightweight tent canopies and retractable roof system will provide shade and help keep football fans and players cool with minimal amount of energy.

LEGACY

After the FIFA World Cup 2022™, its upper tier of modular design seating will be given to developing nations that need sporting infrastructure – a lasting reminder of Qatar's generous spirit.

A large park surrounds the stadium along with tree-lined pedestrian walkways, and extensive transport facilities.
