Fans at the Al Bayt Stadium were hyped for the World Cup opening ceremony, and the performances were spectacular! BTS sensation Jungkook and Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi took the stage at the World Cup opening, and legendary actor Morgan Freeman also participated in the ceremony.

Abu Bakr Abbas a.k.a "The Metro Man", became an instant celebrity amongst fans and even globally for adding a fun flair to his job! He sure knows how to make fans laugh while pointing them in the right direction. "Metroooo... this way!"

"Where is Messi?"

The video of Saudi Arabian team fans asking an MBC reporter, "Where is Messi?" became a hit on social media. This was after the Saudi Arabia national football team beat Argentina's national football team in the group stage match on 22 November.

Caps for match goers

As an admirable gesture, sun caps were placed on stadium seats to keep Costa Rica vs Japan match spectators shaded from the sun on 27 November at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium.

Fans help find a lost wallet

On 20 November 2022, a fan lost her wallet at the FIFA Fan Festival at Al Bidda Park. The other fans there helped look for it and returned it to her within one hour.

England's Jack Grealish keeps promise after World Cup goal

Jack Grealish did a unique goal celebration after England's sixth goal against Iran in their World Cup opening match. Grealish celebrated by going towards the corner flag before flapping his arms in the air as he had promised young fan Finlay, who has cerebral palsy, that he would do it.

First Qatari referee to officiate a World Cup match

Abdulrahman Al-Jassim made his World Cup debut as a match official at the USA vs Wales Group B match held on 21 November at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium. He became the first Qatari referee to officiate a World Cup match.
