As per the match schedule published by FIFA for the FIFA World Cup 2022™️, Qatar will be playing the opening match. The match will be played against Ecuador on November 21, 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium.
The match marks Qatar's first-ever entry to the global finals and continues the tradition of the host nation playing the official opening match of the FIFA World Cup.
As per FIFA, the compact orientation of the FIFA World Cup 2022™️ allowed for the ease of assigning group stage games to a stadium and also the setting of kick-off time for each matchday after the final draw. Thus, making for a comfortable experience for teams, spectators, media, and global match watchers. Furthermore, this is the first of its sort, as declared by FIFA.
Since the commencement of the host country playing the opening matches it has been noticed that host nations have been undefeated at the opening matches; thus, giving Qatar something to look forward to.
