Qatar's Government Communications Office (GCO) announced in a tweet on 16 December that the country is actively working to ensure the waste generated from the World Cup stadiums and venues will be recycled and/or converted into green energy.
The GCO updates that 49% of waste has been collected and recycled. It has also been reported that other collected waste, which includes paper, plastic, and glass, will be converted into green energy to generate electricity or produce fertilizers.
Several mobile waste transfer stations have also been deployed across the country to make waste collection and recycling faster.
As part of its endeavour to make the @FIFAWorldCup Qatar 2022 an environmentally friendly tournament, the State of #Qatar spared no effort in properly managing and recycling waste generated during the tournament.#VisiontoReality#NowisAll pic.twitter.com/vW4x724RIY
