As per The Peninsula, The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) announced on Saturday, 10 September 2022, that it will be performing open-air concerts across Doha during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra is said to perform in areas including the FIFA Fan Zones, Corniche, Oxygen Park and Katara Amphitheater.
The Peninsula reports that the QPO will have performances that include well-known football songs, Gulf folk music, Arab-themed music, and even original compositions from the Philharmonic. QPO Executive Director, Kurt Meister, added that the QPO will have "smaller groups in the fan zones with the brass section or with the string sections to welcome the football guests" and that around eight to ten concerts will be held outdoors throughout the event.
Nasser Sahim, QPO Deputy Executive Director, also said that the “Gulf folk meets Philharmonic” concert which was held in August, will be performed during the World Cup. He highlighted that the concerts are intended to give residents and visitors of the World Cup an opportunity to enjoy and experience “traditional folk music in orchestration style”.
