The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced in a tweet the transportation plan to designate public bus lanes, taxis and authorized vehicles along A-Ring Road for FIFA World Cup.

This project is in coordination with FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Delivery and Legacy Committee, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transport, and Mowasalat.
“The lane will help to provide a smooth & Eco-friendly transport experience for fans during #Qatar2022. It will help Qatar to deliver an outstanding event”.
Eng. Khalid Al-Mulla, Head of the Technical team of the Corniche Closure Committee explains that
the new lane will be designated for public buses, taxis & authorized vehicles and aims to facilitate the arrival of police and emergency vehicles in the event of accidents during the events.
According to Mr. Saleh Al-Marri, Director of Land Transport Network Planning Department of the Ministry of Transport, the bus lane contributes to reducing CO2 emissions, traffic congestion, and will reduce the use of personal vehicles. Furthermore, the use of eco-friendly buses will be rolled out to contribute to the sustainability efforts.
Eng. Mohammed Al-Marri, the Secretary of the Corniche Street closure Committee further explains that this project comes after increasing the number of road lanes on A-Ring Road to 4 lanes in each direction in order to enhance road capacity, traffic flow, and reduce traffic congestion.
Ahmed Al-Obaidly, Executive Manager of Operations Mowasalat also states that "The lane contributes to reducing travel time taken for public buses on A-Ring Rd & Doha Central. It also facilitates its arrival on time & achieving the integration of the transportation system.”
