Fans can access urgent medical care for free at HMC during World Cup

The Ministry of Public Health has detailed on its new Sports and Health website the medical assistance it will offer visitors during the FIFA World Cup tournament.

On the Fan Health Information page of the website, the ministry stated a number of medical services that it will provide to visitors such as access to medical care at any of the country’s private or public hospitals, medical centres, clinics and pharmacies. The ministry notes that apart from this, special healthcare services will also be open in and around all FIFA World Cup-related events and locations during the competition period.

The Ministry of Public Health however recommends visitors to have their travel insurance coverage (with healthcare cover) throughout the duration of their stay in Qatar.

Visiting fans can access emergency and urgent medical services at Hamad Medical Corporation hospitals free of charge throughout the tournament. To receive these services free of charge, fans must present their Hayya Card to the healthcare facility. Below are the HMC hospitals that will be accepting fans for free for emergency and urgent medical services:

  • Sheikha Aisha bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital
  • Al Wakra Hospital
  • Hamad General Hospital
  • Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital
