Doha Port revamped for tourists in time for World Cup

The Old Doha Port has been upgraded and decorated with new multicoloured buildings and great landscapes as it transforms to welcome tourists during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Al Raya has reported that the development of the port area into a tourist marina included the construction of the port neighbourhood while providing visitors with many services, including a commercial market, a fish market, retail stores, restaurants and cafes, a hotel, mooring berths for boats and ships and bicycle and walking paths. The port also has a terminal for receiving large cruise ships.

The port of Doha, which costs 2 billion riyals to develop, is expected to soon turn into a permanent port to receive cruise ships and become one of the tourist attractions in the heart of the capital. With the completion of the development project and the increase in the port's capacity to allow the reception of two super-skilled vessels at once, Qatar is expected to attract 500,000 visitors on board cruise ships by 2026.
