If you've been wondering how to access the World Cup stadiums via the metro, you've landed at the right place. The Doha Metro plays an integral part in Qatar's public transportation system.
The ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team is here to give you all the information you need to guide you on which station is the closest to each stadium.
Note: Shuttle services known as the 'Stadium Express Bus' will be available across the 'Stadium Express Bus hubs', which link metro stations to stadiums during the tournament. Stay tuned for details once confirmed information is released.
Doha Metro

The Doha Metro network operates with 37 stations divided across three lines.
Red Line: Al Wakra, Ras Bu Fontas, Hamad International Airport (Terminal 1), Economic Zone, Oqba Ibn Nafie, Al Matar, Umm Ghuwailina, Al Doha Al Jadeda, Msheireb, Al Bidda, Corniche, West Bay, Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre (DECC), Al Qassar, Katara, Legtaifiya, Qatar University, Lusail
The Red Line has two interchange stations for the metro lines – Al Bidda for interchanges between Red and Green and Msheireb for interchanges between all three lines.
Gold Line: Ras Bu Abboud, Qatar National Museum, Souq Waqif, Bin Mahmoud, Al Sadd, Joaan, Al Sudan, Al Waab, Sport City & Al Aziziyah
Green Line: Al Mansoura, The White Palace, Hamad Hospital, Al Messila, Al Rayyan Al Qadeem, Al Shaqab, Qatar National Library, Education City & Al Riffa
All three lines meet at the Msheireb metro station, making it the central station.
The Qatar Rail application is available for iOS and Android users. The application provides all the necessary information such as train timings, etc.
Metro link services
The metrolink is a free service for metro users which provides shuttle services to the metro stations within a 2 to 5-kilometre radius distance. Current route details can be found here.
Operational hours: Sat to Wed - 6 am till 11 pm | Thu - 6 am till 11:59 pm | Fri - 2 pm till 11:59 pm
Metroexpress
The metroexpress is also a free service that accommodates a capacity of 7 passengers in specific service zones around metro stations. This flexible service can be booked on-demand via the Karwa Taxi App. However, this service is limited to metro passengers and must be used along with a train journey.
