Fifa world cup fan zones guide

The World Cup in Qatar is set to be a global celebration. Millions of fans from all over the world will be flocking to Doha.

The numerous Fan Zones will be packed with food, activities, entertainment, and performances for you to enjoy during the biggest tournament in the world.

The ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team has put together everything you need to know to get the best fan experience.

What are fan zones?

Fan Zones are areas around Qatar dedicated to FIFA World Cup celebrations.

These areas will have entertainment options for fans, including live screening of the matches, food stalls, performances and entertainment acts. Fan Zones are where fans can enjoy the tournament outside the actual stadiums.

Where are the different fan zones announced so far?

FIFA Fan Festival

Deemed to be one of the biggest fan venues in Doha during the World Cup, the FIFA Fan Festival will be held at Al Bidda Park. There will be live viewing of the matches available on the big screens scattered in the area. Fans can enjoy a wide variety of international cuisines from many food and beverage stalls.

As per Reuters, Budweiser is permitted to serve its beverages from 6:30 pm to 1 am every day of the 29-day tournament.

Aside from matches and live performances, entertainment acts will be available for visitors.

  • Timings [UPDATED AS OF 30 OCTOBER 2022]:
    • 19-20 November 2022 from 4 pm to 2 am
    • 21-29 November 2022 from 11 am to 2 am
    • 30 November - 18 December 2022 from 4 pm to 2 am
  • Location: Al Bidda Park
  • Tickets [UPDATED AS OF 30 OCTOBER 2022]: Hayya Card required upon entry.
  • Capacity: 40,000
  • Re-entry: Visitors can exit and re-enter the FIFA Fan Festival any time during operational hours
  • Minimum age: There is no minimum age to attend the FIFA Fan Festival. However, children (anyone aged under 18) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Accessibility: Guests with disabilities can benefit from numerous arrangements that will be made on-site to ensure a comfortable visit.

How to get there:

  • Doha Metro: Arriving at the site: Corniche station (Red Line) or Al Bidda station (Red and Green Lines)
    • Fans will be directed north to West Bay-Qatar Energy metro station (Red Line) or south to Al Bidda metro station (Red and Green Lines) for those leaving the Fan Festival.
    • Corniche Station cannot be used for leaving the FIFA Fan Festival site.
  • Bus services: Corniche shuttle service will connect fans to and from West Bay and Souq Waqif areas. The B and C ring road shuttle services will service fans from accommodation areas to the FIFA Fan Festival.
    • Bus operations will start at 8 am and end at 2 am.
  • Tournament bus services: Direct bus services to the stadiums from the FIFA Fan Festival will be available at the stadium express bus hub.
    • Bus operations will start four hours before kick-off and end 90 minutes after the final whistle.
  • Taxis and ride-sharing: Taxi and ride-sharing drop-off and pick-up points are stationed at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

The Corniche

The Corniche will host a carnival-like experience for fans along a 6 km stretch from the Museum of Islamic Art to the Sheraton Hotel. Visitors will enjoy roving performances, various rides and activities, 150+ food and beverage stalls, and retail pop-ups.

There will be 4 live stages with entertainment and performances.

  • Timings: 19 November - 18 December 2022. Every day from 12 pm – 12 am.
  • Location: Doha Corniche
  • Capacity: 70,000
  • Tickets: Free for the public. Note: Some activities require paid admission tickets.
  • How to get there: Nearest metro stations are Souq Waqif Station (Gold Line), Corniche Station (Red Line), West Bay Station (Red Line)

Lusail Boulevard

The Lusail Boulevard, located near the iconic Lusail Stadium, will host street performances, parades, and live music surrounded by food and beverage outlets.

  • Timings: 20 November - 18 December 2022, from 11 am to 12 am.
  • Location: Lusail City
  • Tickets: Free for the public. Note: Some activities require paid admission tickets.
  • Capacity: 60,000
  • How to get there: Lusail Station (Red Line)

Hayya Fan Zone: Lusail Marina Promenade

Located near the iconic Lusail Stadium, the Hayya Fan Zone will host street performances, parades, and live music surrounded by food and beverage outlets. Visitors can also enjoy an open ice skating rink with scheduled ice ballet shows, a multimedia pavilion with 3D screens, and a jumbotron.

  • Timings: 19 November - 18 December, from 12 pm to 1 am
  • Location: Lusail Marina Promenade
  • Tickets: Regular admissions ticket (QR 50) and ticketed activations, as per Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy
  • Capacity: 3,500
  • How to get there: Legtaifiya (Red line), Marina Tram Station (Orange Line)

Industrial Area Fan Zone

Fans can watch the World Cup matches live on the big screen at the Industrial Area Fan Zone. There will also be Asian and international performances, activations, live entertainment, as well as food and beverage stands. Even stay connected with free WiFi!

  • Timings: 18 November - 18 December
    • 3 pm to 10 pm (18 - 20 Nov, 7 - 8 Dec, 11-12 Dec, 15 - 18 Dec)
    • 10 am to 1 am (21 - 28 Nov)
    • 3 pm to 1 am (29 Nov - 6 Dec, 9 - 10 Dec, 13 - 14 Dec)
  • Location: Cricket Stadium in Asian Town
  • Tickets: Free for the public, no Hayya Card required.
  • How to get there: Free Zone metro station (Red line), M140 metrolink bus

New Industrial Area Festival Zone

The festivities at the New Industrial Area Festival Zone will greet fans with live match screening on the big screen, musical shows, Asian and international performances, exciting sports competitions, raffle draws with amazing prizes, and food and beverage stands. One unique feature at the festival zone is free diabetic and blood pressure checkups to make sure fans are healthy throughout all the excitement.

  • Timings: 18 November - 18 December, 4 pm to 10 pm
  • Location: Street No. 55, New Industrial Area
  • Tickets: Free for the public, no Hayya Card required.
  • How to get there: Free Zone metro station (Red line), M140 metrolink bus, L510 and L509 Karwa bus

Al Khor Fan Zone

Fans north of Qatar will be able to enjoy the tournament festivities at the Al Khor Fan Zone. Aside from live match screening on the big screen, there will be Asian and international performances, fun activations, live entertainment, free Wi-Fi, as well as food and beverage stands.

  • Timings: 18 November - 18 December
    • 3 pm to 10 pm (18 - 20 Nov, 7 - 8 Dec, 11-12 Dec, 15 - 18 Dec)
    • 10 am to 1 am (21 - 28 Nov)

974 Beach Club

The 974 Beach Club is located in close proximity to Stadium 974 and will be a hub for water sports activities, live music, retail shops, and food outlets.

  • Timings:
    • 9 am to 6 pm
    • Official opening date is to be confirmed.
  • Location: Ras Bu Aboud, near Stadium 974
  • Tickets: Admission ticket required. Ticket prices are to be confirmed.
  • Capacity: 5,000
  • How to get there: Ras Bu Fontas metro station (Red Line). Shuttle buses will be available.

Qetai-Fan Beach Fest Powered by Unit-Y

Another beach party venue option is the Qetai-Fan Beach Fest Powered by Unity-Y. The festivities will include beach and water activities, live screening of matches, over 50 food & beverage outlets, retail shops, and concerts.

  • Timings: 19 November – 18 December 2022, from 10 am to 4 am.
  • Location: Qetaifan Island North beachfront
  • Capacity: 30,000
  • Tickets: Admission ticket required. Ticket prices are to be confirmed.

Al Maha Island Lusail

Aside from being one of the biggest and newest theme parks in Qatar, offering a variety of rides, attractions, food and beverage outlets, and a beach, the Al Mahal Island will also host a number of concerts for fans to enjoy.

  • Timings: Open from 14 November 2022
  • Location: Tarfa Lusail
  • Tickets: Admission ticket is required. Prices are to be confirmed.
  • How to get there: The event will provide transportation services that will connect different points of interest in the country.

Arcadia Music Festival

If you’re looking for the electrifying thrill of a music festival, the Arcadia is one to check out! Live music performances from international artists and DJs will fill the venue for the ultimate dance festival.

  • Timings: 19 November to 19 December 2022, from 10 am to 5 am.

MDL Beast Presents – ARAVIA

ARAVIA hosted by MDLBEAST will be another music festival destination not to be missed. ARAVIA will be a massive rave with an Arabian flair featuring the biggest artists in the industry.

The Daydream Festival 2022: The Magical Lantern will make its grand return to Doha as a part of Qatar Live 2022. The festival will host some of the world’s largest electronic and dance music artists (EDM) for an electrifying month-long festival.

Every World Cup match will begin and end with spectacular cultural activations around the vicinity of every stadium. The festivities will begin 3 hours before each match and 2 hours after the final match.
