Eid and the summer holidays are just around the corner, and if you are thinking of traveling, it’s important to be prepared so you aren’t stressed out when you should really be having fun and staying comfortable I’ve put together some travel hacks that will make your travels easy and stress-free. Believe me you’ll wonder why you never thought of these before:

1. Buy cheap online tickets

If you click on and enable ‘Private Browsing’, you can find cheaper online flights. How, you ask? Travel and airline websites usually record any visits you may have made to their sites through cookies. This means everytime you return to their websites, they will raise the prices just so you panic and buy them at higher prices.

2. Scan your passport and other travel documents

One has to be prepared for everything while traveling including losing your mobile, passport or other travel documents or having them stolen. It’s best to scan your important travel documents and e-mail them to yourself so if you are faced with a stressful situation like this, you still have scanned copies on your e-mail.

3. Roll up clothes for more suitcase storage space

This is a tried and tested hack and it really does help. If you roll up your clothes instead of folding them up, you will have a lot more room in your suitcase and not so many creases.

4. Pack socks and underwear in shoes

I love this one, especially because it not only gives you more storage space in the suitcase, socks and underwear also allow you the luxury of keeping the shape of your shoes intact, so when you take them out of the suitcase they won’t be squashed and battered.

5. Keep your collars in shape with belts

If you don’t want your collars to be damaged, wrinkly or creased while travelling, fold your shirts, roll up your belts and put them in the collar area. It’s foolproof!

6. Invest in a portable mobile charger

A portable phone charger comes in very handing especially if your mobile dies on you just when you are about to take that epic selfie or need directions. It’s basically a battery that you charge up before hand and use when you are on the go.

7. Make sure your credit card is authorised for transactions abroad

Before you travel don’t forget to call your bank to ensure you can make transactions on your debit or credit card when travelling abroad, or you may find yourself in a pickle when you’re at the cash counter loaded with goods you can’t buy because your credit card wasn’t authorised before you travelled.

8. For local currency, use local cash machines or ATMs

This is probably one of the most useful travel hacks you will come across. Always withdraw local currency from the cash machines or ATMs when abroad. They give you much better rates than the money exchange outlets at airports, hotels and on the streets who will charge you more in terms of hidden fees and exchange rates.

9. Use the TV to charge up your electronic gadgets

In case you forget your charger at home or lose them somewhere along the way, you can charge them through the USB connector all new TVs have either on the side or on the back.

10. Jog off your jet lag

If you’re flight is long and your travel destination far, you are bound to be jet lagged when you arrive. There’s nothing better than a jog or a run to chase away that jet lag and wake you up so you feel refreshed and ready to go.
