Hamad International Airport (HIA) celebrated Qatar National Day by marking a wide range of remarkable festivities across the terminal for passengers and employees.

The airport collaborated with Qatar Duty Free (QDF) to design and decorate the airport with Qatari flags and manifestations of Qatar National Day. HIA and QDF also introduced authentic traditional cuisines across various food and beverage outlets in the airport for passengers to get a taste of Qatari cuisine.

This includes a special menu of Qatari inspired dishes at the recently opened Harrods Tea Room' in celebration of the much-anticipated Qatar National Day across the month of December.

HIA has partnered with Al Reyada Girls Centre, to provide travellers a feel of the country and its geography by installing an interactive model showcasing the iconic sites around Qatar.

Al-Reyada Girls Centre is an entity under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which aims to empower girls and enhance their skills in sports, culture and social fields.

Through this partnership, HIA has provided Al-Reyada Girls Centre an opportunity to showcase their work to millions of passengers passing through Qatars terminal.

Travelers have been given the opportunity to engage with the model present at the activity node in concourse C throughout the month of December, which sheds light on the beauty of Qatar, its heritage and hospitable people.

HIA also partnered with Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) to bring the third edition of 'Qatar's Flag Relay' to the airport on December 13.

The 5,000 participant event witnessed participation from HIA subsidiaries and partners. The flag relay which took place around prominent locations in Qatar culminated at the airport, where the flag was finally handed to a Qatar Airways pilot who flew it to Japan where the Qatari team will be represented for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Bolstering employee engagement and culture, HIA has also partnered with Qatar Aviation Services (QAS) to organise a Qatar National Day 2019 staff engagement event on December 17.

HIA and QAS management and staff engaged in live traditional Qatari performances and activities, while enjoying traditional and local cuisine stations and food trucks.

The airport also featured a series of celebrations reflecting Qatari culture and tradition to share Qatari pride and joy to nationals, residents, and all passengers.

The five-star airport provided traditional activities and entertainment across the terminal including calligraphy writing, henna tattoos and a photo corner where travellers captured their memorable experiences before boarding their flights.
