Mowasalat adopts AdBlue to minimise emissions

Mowasalat (Karwa) has introduced today, 28 December 2021, the first AdBlue filling station for large-scale bus operations - a first-of-its-kind in the region.

AdBlue is an agent that is injected into the exhaust pipeline of Diesel-fueled buses, and through a chemical reaction, it reduces the release of harmful pollutants into the atmosphere.

Aiming to minimize emissions while meeting increased demand, Mowasalat (Karwa) acquired a fleet of Diesel vehicles with Euro 5 Standard. They are equipped with one of the latest filtration systems to remove particulate matter from exhausts, reducing it to the equivalent of one grain of sand per kilometer driven.

The expansion of the company's conventional filling stations to include AdBlue pumps combine the normal fueling with a regular refill with the agent. This is convenient, streamlines operations for hundreds of buses, and helps Mowasalat (Karwa) to support the States environment policy, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Mowasalat (Karwa) Chief Operating Officer Ahmed Al Obaidly, explains:

"This project is a natural continuation of our sustainability initiatives. It is our mandate to lead the way in the transition from conventional towards emission-free engines in the public transport network."

Mowasalat (Karwa) has deployed the new vehicles during international events and will gradually replace the old rolling stock until 2023.
