Qatar Airways announced in a tweet on May 10, 2022, that they have entered into a strategic partnership with Australia's most popular airline; Virgin Australia.

The official announcement of the strategic partnership was at the Arabian Travel Market 2022 which took place in Dubai and commenced on May 8, 2022.
The partnership aims at providing enhanced benefits through all their airport lounges and loyalty programs. Passengers flying from Australia on Qatar Airways to any destination will be able to avail of the benefits from the middle of the year. New travel destinations will also be an outcome of the partnership. Convenient transit options will be provided in central cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
Furthermore, the partnership will allow Qatar Airways passengers to access 35 destinations on Virgin Australia's domestic network; contrary to the 5 Australian destinations that they currently fly to which are Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide. Passengers of Virgin Australia and their loyalty program members will be able to avail of direct travel facilities on Qatar Airways destination network. They will be able to book Qatar Airways flights via the Virgin Australia website.
An additional benefit for the members of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club members will be that they can earn and redeem Avios points when they travel on Virgin Australia Airlines. The same benefits will be provided to Velocity Club members which is the Australian airline's privilege club when they travel via Qatar Airways.
Other benefits that they would be able to enjoy subjective to the membership tier would be airport lounge access, increased baggage allowance, priority check-in, boarding, and baggage claim. These benefits will be provided when traveling on either of the airlines.
