Paddlers in Qatar spearheaded by Gaod Dragon Boat Team along with Doha Wireless Warriors, Doha Dragons, Onslaught Qatar raised funds for Global Planet, in cooperation with Katara
management.

The 68 paddlers had the beach cleaned up and paddled and bonded with great efforts.

This is a global event which aims to raise funds and support environmental life.

Excitement was in the air as the sun rose over Katara Beach on the morning of
Saturday, 4th June.

Each participant contributed $10 dollars of which all proceeds will go towards
marine conservation, specifically reserves.

The morning festivities ended with a promise from many people involved, that they
will participate and contribute next year!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Paddle for the Planet is a Global Paddling Relay. It unites paddlers, and ocean lovers to create awareness of the plight of our oceans and waterways.

The goal is to have simultaneous paddling events happening sequentially, at a specific time, in every time zone and in each country around the world annually.

The result will be to unite paddlers of any type of paddling craft through the Global Relay. We encourage both paddlers and ocean lovers to attend.

Paddle for the Planet aims to raise awareness and financial support for marine conservation specifically in the area of reserves and “no take zones”.

Paddle for the Planet wants to create an opportunity to make a difference. Often, when faced with the magnitude of environmental issues, a person is left feeling overwhelmed and as if there is nothing that can be done. We want to allow all paddlers the opportunity to help.
